This prize certificate, presented to Jenny Lloyd for ‘general improvement and good conduct’, is hand-written in blue and red coloured inks. The school, in Little Queen Street, London, was set up by a Ms. Letitia Anglio as a fee-paying finishing college for young ladies. Here, as in others of their type, behaviour, decorum and preparation for a life of middle-class respectability were far more important than acquiring an education.
