H. R. Woudhuysen notes in the TLS that an antiquarian bookseller in Austria offered what seems to be “a French-produced peep-show commemorating the opening in the presence of the Prince of Wales on June 26, 1843, of the Thames Tunnel, between Rotherhithe and Wapping, the first underwater tunnel in the world, the first underwater tinnel in the world. The five coloured panels show the interi0r of the tunnel and ships passing on the river over it.”
