The British Listed Buildings site, describes this Portland stone and pink granite monument with English and Welsh inscriptions as an “arcaded chest with ridged roof on a three-stage base with a portrait medallion on the end arch, above his name written in capitals. . . . Richard was a “Congregationalist minister, MP for Merthyr Tidfil (1868-88), a prominent anti-war campaigner and promoter of religious freedom.”
