S Raphael
Clayton & Bell
St Andrew's, East Heslerton
N. Yorkshire
The church, designed by G. E. Street, was built in 1873-77, and the stained glass throughout is by Clayton and Bell. The Archangel Raphael is shown holding the fish which features in the story of Tobias and the fish in the Apocrypha: instead of being eaten by the fish, under Raphael's instruction, Tobais is able to catch and clean it, after which the pair eat it (Tobit, 6, 1-5).
