This particular large-scale illustration, entitled "The long looked-for branch," appeared on p. 81 in the July 22nd issue for Chapter 7, "The 'Tusk.'" Hopkins' initials appear in the lower left-hand corner. The scene presents the young protagonists, Maud and Kit, and setting is the Medway. The book appeared in three volumes under the Chatto and Windus imprint in 1883.
