A barn of a church (see Cherry and Pevsner 245), Christ Church was declared redundant in 1987, and partly demolished. The remainder was converted into a community centre. However, the old part of the building still has a strong presence on this busy road, and indeed the Anglican parish church continues to conduct its services in an adjacent structure created on the site of the old church hall. Although unlisted, the church building itself is of special interest because of the calibre of its architects. John Brown was the Norwich architect with whom Ewan Christian, later to be president of the Royal Institute of British Architects, spent some time early in his career, and Robert Kerr founded and served as the first president of the Architectural Association, becoming Professor of the Arts of Construction at King's College, London.
